Hudson Valley View From Mt. Zion
Pastel en Plein Air, 18" x 24"
From Mt. Zion in the Hudson Valley you can see for miles over the farm fields, orchards and forests. In the far distance you can get a peak at the Hudson River near Newburgh, New York where George Inness was born. Before the sun sets behind the mountain it leaves it's mark of brilliant warm energetic colors splashed on the grasses, buildings and all it touches as if saying remember me, I'll be back tomorrow. My marks are fast and furious as I try and capture the fleeting moments of color. In contrast, the distant land has a quiet blue veil laying over it showing us the humid summer air. This painting portrays a feeling of being on top of the world.
